Q Do Contestants have to be Canadian Citizens?
A No. In 2003, and from this date forward, a Contestant does not have to be either a citizen or a landed immigrant as was required in previous years. The Miss Nude Canada Pageant is now open to International Competition.
The Miss Nude Canada Title, after 32 years, is the most respected title of its kind and the hardest to win. So now, like all the famous sports titles, the world's best are invited to compete for the world's best title! See Evolution of the Pageant for a more detailed answer.
Q Is the Pageant for Features only? (Top)
A We welcome women from all walks of life and all levels of dance. This unique mix of "rookies" and "pros" ensures an exciting and challenging competition.
The term Feature is only applicable were feature entertainment is part of the industry. In many parts of the world there is no such thing as a "feature" and we encourage woman from all around the world to compete and "strut their stuff".
Q Is there an age limit? (Top)
A The only age limit is one that is imposed by the local regulations and laws that govern the society in which the pageant is held. As long as the Contestant can meet the age limit, imposed by the ruling government, to enter the premises and perform before the public in the nude, then she can apply to enter the pageant.
On the entry form we ask for official ID and the Contestants are verified by the host venue and local licencing bodies, if applicable, BEFORE the Contestant is allowed to compete.
Q How many entrants are accepted for a Pageant? (Top)
A The number of Contestants varies from pageant to pageant. The National Finals (obviously the most popular) are limited to 30 since this is the maximum number of Contestants who can compete within the time constraints of the present pageant format. Nightly competition starts at 8:00 pm and each Contestant is allowed 20 minutes to perform her show.
The ideal number of Contestants for a major pageant is 24 because this allows everyone to have a friendlier opportunity to compete for the title. 30 Contestants makes for a very rushed and tense competition.
In the entry-level pageants, and at many of the preliminary pageants, we restrict the number of Contestants to 15 or less. The reason for this smaller number is to allow each Contestant a greater opportunity to "learn" how to compete as the competition progresses. The major pageants, with the greater number of Contestants, are much more "do or die" style because we expect every Contestant to have already participated at an earlier "more friendly" level of pageant.
Q What restrictions apply? (Top)
A Each Pageant is subject to the local licencing laws (ie: if pyrotechnic shows are allowed) at that venue. Every Contestant receives a copy of The Dancer Reference Manual for general rules and regulations.
Q Can a Title Winner compete again? (Top)
A The reigning National Queen is not permitted to compete for the title and crown, she has to pass her title on to the new Queen at the end of her reign. She is, however, allowed to re-enter the competition the very next year. No former Miss Nude Canada has ever won the title more than once even though several (Barbie Doll Benson and Porscha Lee, to name just two) have tried.
At the lower levels of competition, Provincial and Regional, the reigning Queens are allowed to compete every year. As a result some great contestants own the title for more than one year. For example, Montana Foxxx was three times Miss Nude Eastern Canada
Q Do the Contestants get paid to compete? (Top)
A No. The Contestants make a large financial sacrifice to enter and compete and that's why these pageants are so special and unique.
- In Western Canada, where the format is showgirls for the main entertainment year-round the Contestants are given paid shows during the times they aren't competing.
- Contestants have the opportunity to table dance in Eastern Canada where tabledancing is the main form of club entertainment.
Q Can a Contestant be sponsored? (Top)
A Yes. The Pageant works through sponsorship:
- Self Sponsorship by the dancer because she invests both money and time, and, most importantly, herself.
- Club Sponsorship because the prize monies paid out to the three levels of winners comes from the Host Club and is paid to help the winners move on to a higher Pageant.
- Agent Sponsorship because he gives up the commission his feature would have earned him if she'd worked one of his gigs for the week of competition.
- Pageant Sponsorship for the very special women we directly invite into the high pageants because we believe they have a great potential future that is just begging for the career launch participation in our Pageant guarantees a new dancer.
- Customer Sponsorship through the money spent in the host club as patrons attend every night of the Pageant. The standing room only crowds make it feasible for the club to pay the costs of hosting a Pageant.
Q What are the prizes? (Top)
A Title winners get a cash prize (amount varies depending up the location and size of the pageant), jewellery, trophies, sashes, medallions, and certificates plus guaranteed bookings, promotional opportunities, and prizes from a variety of sponsors.
The Sponsors & Prizes section has pictures, links, and photo pictorials.
Q Do the winners return their crowns at the end of their year? (Top)
A The Queen owns her crown and her title for the rest of her life. For photos and more information please visit the Pageant Crown page.
Q Who was the first Miss Nude Canada? (Top)
A Greta Garbo, of Montreal, won the title in 1972. Visit the Official List for the Miss Nude Canada Title Winners.
